OK. Now let's see . . . . . first of all, I should mention that character personality traits have been tweaked from the original cartoon for my CMM site, and, as a result, somewhat merged into my HB Impossibles fanfic. Here's basically the lowdown:
Canon: The Impossibles were named Coil Man (aka Coiley), Multi Man (aka Multi), and Fluid Man (aka Fluey). They're real names have never been revealed on the cartoon, and neither has their origin story (I wrote a fanfic explaining all this). As much as I like the cartoon, I have to admit, they've got some pretty weird superpowers. Coil Man becomes a human spring or any other metal object, Multi Man can make infinite copies of himself to fool foes, and Fluid Man can go from solid to liquid, and back to solid. While their exact ages are unknown, one episode mentioned they were teenagers. In the cartoon, they all played guitar. I have reason to believe Coil Man was the leader, though other sources claim it was Multi Man, and others say it was Fluid Man. In other words, no "official" leader has been identified (unless you count Big D). But for all intents and purposes for my fanfic, Coiley's the leader (mainly because they got their assignments from the TV in his guitar. They only got their assignments out of Multi's twice, I think).
What I've Done For Camp Monkee Mallard: Dropped the superhero schtick, and gave the boys middle and last names, but kept the Coil, Multi, and Fluid monikers. Why I did this, I will never know. I have also changed their design completely.
Coil Man became Coil Mann Collins (Mann being his mother's maiden name). In the original cartoon, he was short and chubby, however I've turned him into a pretty skinny lookin' kid (then again, the way I draw, all my humans are skinny!) He's sixteen, and has two older sisters named Spring (which was changed to Sue for my HB IMPS fanfic) and Reine, and I've recently decided to give him a younger sister named Courtney, who's ten. His father George works for an advertising agency, while his mother Martha owns a diner.
Multi Man became Multi O'Neil Mills (O'Neil was his mother's maiden name). His design was pretty much true to form, with a minor adjustment to his hair. In the original cartoon, you could describe Multi's hair in two words: Mop Top. Seriously, he looks similar to an Olde English Sheepdog. His eyes are not visible. The way I have him designed, his hair DOES hang into his eyes, but at least you can see them. He is sixteen and has an older sister named Windy. His parents are Ken and Laura Mills, and they divorced when Multi was four. Multi lives with Ken in California, Windy once lived in Maine with Laura, but now goes to UCLA, and lives with Ken. Multi also has a stepfather named Daniel Messick (named after Multi Man's original voice, Don Messick), a seventeen year old stepsister named Karen, an eleven-year-old stepbrother named Kurt, and an eight year old half brother named Sam. He also has a stepmother named Barbara, and a three-year-old half brother named Adam.
Fluid Man became Fluid Tork McAlister, and his "life story" (for CMM, at least) is straight out of a Movie of the Week. His mother is named Janet Thorkleson, and she is an Original Character of mine, designed to be Peter Tork's older sister (in real life, Peter is the oldest in his family; but I've seen Monkee Authors give the Monkees extra siblings). Janet was known to have one night stands, and she eventually became pregnant. Nobody knows for sure who Fluey's father is, but they speculate it's Jim McAlister, one of Janet's many boyfriends. After Fluey was born, Janet (who was living with her parents John and Virginia Thorkleson, and her younger siblings, Peter, Nick, Chris, and Annie), would leave Fluey with John and Virginia while she went off. She would come back hours later. One day when she left, she never came back, and nobody has heard from her since. Fluey was raised by John and Virginia, but it switched over to Peter and the other three Monkees when the Thorklesons were moving to France, but Fluey wanted to stay in the states. Later, it became Peter and Valerie when they got married. Fluey's designs have pretty much staid the same as the original cartoon, with maybe a slightly different hairstyle, and he's a bit thinner. Fluey had somewhat of a sarcastic nature in the original cartoon, and it's carried over to my version of him, but I take it a step farther, and Fluey is mouthy, and a smart aleck. In my world, he takes karate classes, and loves to surf. His three favorite groups are the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and of course, the Monkees. As far as siblings go, Fluey is not convinced he's an only child, and he figures if his mother just kept on with her one night stands, and if his father is the same way, he probably has a few half brothers and sisters out there.
What I've Done In My HB IMPS Fanfic: I kept their last names, but gave them different first names: Coiley became Calvin Collins, Multi became Mark Mills, and Fluey became Franklin "Franky" McAlister. Coiley's and Multi's middle names remained the same, but I changed Fluey's middle name to "Peter" for my HB IMPS fics. The family situations for Multi and Coiley are the same as my CMM line up. Fluey . . . . well, with him, I gave him a complete overhaul. He was abandoned by both biological parents as a baby, and adopted by a couple named David and Janice McAlister, who were killed in a car crash when Fluey was three, then he went to live with a friend of his parents, Tillie Templeton, whom he refers to as "Aunt Tillie" (it's in reference to an actual Impossibles episode). Throughout the course of my fanfic, I added a HUGE plot twist in one of my stories, "Family Secrets" (which is up on fanfiction.net), but I'm not going to spoil it here just yet.
So basically, that's the way it goes with me.
